Autumn in South Tyrol has a charm all of its own: vineyards glow in warm colours, the mountain air becomes crisp and clear, and the traditional farm taverns come alive with the Törggelen season.

Spend 5 days, from Monday to Friday, at Profigl Eco Guesthouse and discover the flavours of autumn around Bressanone on two special experiences. Expect wine tastings, historic monastery walls, golden vineyards and authentic South Tyrolean cuisine.

Wednesday – Bressanone’s Fifth Season: Törggelen & Wine Tasting

The Törggelen season begins in early October and traditionally lasts until Advent. On this enjoyable hike, you’ll visit Griesser Hof Winery in Varna, just north of Bressanone. Here, you’ll taste three white wines and meet winemaker Paul, who grows his own grapes and produces his wines himself.

The hike then continues through the beautiful autumn landscape to Gugger Hof farm tavern, high above Bressanone. Here, you can enjoy traditional Törggelen dishes and the warm atmosphere of a South Tyrolean farm tavern. And of course, a glass of Eisack Valley wine makes the perfect accompaniment.

Thursday – Between Vineyards & Monastery Walls

On Thursday, the route leads from Bressanone through the vineyards to the historic Novacella Abbey. The path climbs gently, revealing beautiful views over Bressanone and the vineyards dressed in their autumn colours.

During a guided vineyard tour, you’ll learn more about the work involved in the vineyards and the abbey’s centuries-old winemaking tradition. Afterwards, selected wines will be tasted, offering an authentic insight into the soils and terroir around Novacella.

The hike then continues to Burgerhof Meßner farm tavern, where Kathrin and Johannes serve authentic, down-to-earth South Tyrolean cuisine – from the traditional “Burgerjause” featuring organic products from their own farm to warm local dishes. Enjoy your meal with a beautiful view across the surrounding vineyards and down towards Bressanone.
